Streamlined tool for adding both read receipts and delivery notification requests to all the e-mails you send using Apple's Mail app #Enable delivery notification #Read receipt enabler #BCC toggler #Delivery notification #Read receipt #BCC
Mail Receipt is a free macOS utility designed to make it as easy as possible to effortlessly enable read receipts requests and delivery notifications for any e-mails you send using Apple's Mail application.
Moreover, the Mail Receipt utility also allows you to set Mail.app to automatically add BCC (Blind Carbon Copies) to all your emails.
Mail Receipt does all of the above by adding three extra headers to all e-mails, namely Disposition-Notification-To, Bcc, and Return-Receipt-To, with the help of the UserHeaders default.
Mail Receipt features a minimalist and streamlined user interface which allows you to setup all the necessary headers by ticking a checkbox for each of the headers you want to toggle on.
Once the boxes are ticked, you can apply them by clicking the "Apply" button in the bottom right corner of the window.
It should also be noted that you will have to quit Mail.app if you want the new headers to be added and the read receipts requests and delivery notifications to be enabled.
It is also important to mention that even though you will enable read receipts requests for your e-mails, there is no guarantee that the recipients will actually accept your request and confirm that they have read the mail.
Despite the fact that most e-mail servers will comply with Return-Receipt-To headers and notify you that your message has reached the recipient(s) inbox, you will not be able to know with complete certainty that your email has been read.
If and when you decide that you no longer want to receive confirmation of your e-mail being read via read receipts, notifications or adding BCC to all your e-mails, you can easily disable them by deleting the contents of relevant fields from the Mail Receipt app, clicking Apply and restarting Mail.app.
Taking everything into consideration, Mail Receipt is the perfect tool to have on your Mac if you need to add support for read receipts and delivery notifications to your e-mails since the Mail app does not come with an easy way to add custom headers.
