Jasper is an issues reader designed to work with your GitHub account and offers you the possibility to read all the posts related to your projects.

The Jasper utility monitors everything, including the issues in which your team is mentioned, or the various repositories you are watching, and allows you to go through everything in an efficient manner.

In order to access the GitHub posts within the Jasper user interface, you need to provide a personal access token. To create one, navigate to the Settings area of your GitHub account, select the “Personal access tokens” tab and just press the “Generate new token” button.

Note that these tokens can be revoked at any time and that you can change the initial Jasper settings via the app’s Preferences. The same area enables you to decide if you want to use the built-in browser, or wish to send the links to an external utility.

Moreover, Jasper can display notifications for new posts, show only the unread issues, or put an unread count badge in the Dock. By default, Jasper stores up to 100000 records, but you get to adjust the value and even delete all local data with the press of a button.

Jasper features single, two, and three pane view modes to help you get through all the data in a manner that matches your workflow. You can switch through them with ease thanks to the associated hotkeys.

The additional panes help you sort the entries by their status (Inbox, Unread, Open, Star, or Archive) or source (Me, Team, Watching, or Subscription). Jasper also enables you to see the streams that you are following.

Jasper also integrates a simple search tool and permits you to sort the entries by different criteria: update, read, created, or closed at a certain time, or due on a particular date. Since Jasper can open the posts within its user interface, that means you can post your reply without leaving the app.

Jasper proposes a well-organized space where you get to review all the issues, pull requests, subscriptions, and streams you are monitoring on GitHub without having to go back and forth within a browser.

The Jasper viewer displays everything in an easy to access manner and reduces the response time by allowing you to post right away, without going to an external web browser.
