Intercom For Mac

Intercom is a Mac OS X application that offers you the possibility to communicate with others using your voice, with the help of any microphone connected to your computer.

The Intercom app acts like a classic intercom device and automatically detects all the other users that are connected to the same network as you are.

The Intercom application can be used right away, regardless if you choose or not a display name, although providing one is advisable if you want to be easily recognized by others.

Upon launch, Intercom scans your network for additional clients and lists them in its main window. For each user, you get to see the display name, the computer’s name on the network, the IP address, and the current status.

Each contact comes with talk and listen to buttons that you can press whenever you want to communicate something or hear what the other user has to say.

To let you know that you are talking to a certain contact and vice versa, Intercom uses different colors to highlight the listing, depending on the situation.

Intercom comes with very few customization options, but you do get to select the network interface that should be employed by the app and the UDP port number.

Intercom allows you to choose the microphone device you wish to use with the app and enables you to create a troubleshooting log file.

You can access the Intercom window by using the companion status bar menu, but keep in mind that the app also features a system wide hotkey that can be modified by the user.

Intercom is an easy to configure utility that can be employed to communicate with other users that are connected to the same network as you are. The app detects compatible clients on its own and works with a minimum user configuration.
