IMPORTANT NOTICE: The Google Earth Plug-in has been retired because of security reasons, combined with dwindling cross-platform support (particularly on mobile devices). However, you can download either the Google Earth or the Google Earth Pro app, which have all the features of the plug-in included within their feature set.
Google Earth Plug-in is an internet plug-in that quickly integrates with your system and can be used within three popular web browsers: Google Chrome, Firefox, and Safari.
Together with the Google Earth JavaScript API, the Google Earth Plug-in offers you the possibility to visualize and navigate a 3D globe that has been embedded on a web page.
The Google Earth API can be used by developers to create interactive content that can be accessed by users free of charge.
To learn more about embedding the plug-in into your website visit the Google Earth API page, but keep in mind that the project is deprecated and will stop working on December 12th, 2015.
On the user side, the setup process is quite straightforward: launch the included installer package and follow the on-screen instructions.
To actually activate the plug-in in your browser of choice, restart the browser and confirm that you trust the website that embedded the 3D simulation.
