Flix Mate (formerly FlixMaster) For Mac

Flix Mate (formerly known as FlixMaster) is a minimalist Netflix desktop client that offers you the possibility to access the video streaming service without cluttering your web browser. The player can stay on top of all other windows and provides full access to your Netflix account.

When you launch the Flix Mate application for the first time, the utility detects your Mac’s model and runs if you are using it on a computer shipped starting with 2011. However, if you are using a 2010 Mac or an earlier model, you are prompted to install the Flix Mate Lite version.

To be able to use the Flix Mate Lite version, you must also make sure that the Microsoft Silverlight plug-in is installed on your system. Otherwise, you are directed to the appropriate download link.

Even though the procedure might seem complicated, getting Flix Mate Lite to run on older Mac models is quite straightforward.

Naturally, to be able to access the Netflix movies and TV shows collection, you must log into your account within the Flix Mate application. Once you do that, you will be able to browse your Home wall, access your movies list, or quickly browse new arrivals.

Via Flix Mate's Preferences, you can also choose to add the desktop client to the login items list, or to have its window float on top of everything else. The Flix Mate window can be easily resized, or you can switch to full-screen mode.

To conclude, Flix Mate provides a user-friendly solution for browsing and viewing content included in the Netflix collection. The app reflects the website’s capabilities, but it does not make you waste resources by having to run a full featured web browser.
