FaceTop (Facebook + Desktop) is an elegant Facebook client that acts as your desktop wallpaper. The app can display your Facebook account behind your active windows and icons in a resizable and transparent window that you can interact with.

Keep in mind that FaceTop is designed to be an integrated part of your desktop. This means that it does not act like an active window on your screen; therefore, when using Mission Control to hide active windows, FaceTop is not affected. Nevertheless, you can still hide it.

The main asset of FaceTop is that it can keep you up-to-date with anything that is happening on Facebook by auto-refreshing itself. By default, it occupies half your screen, the transparency is at 50% and you can not interact with it.

However, FaceTop enables you to change this default behavior. For instance, you can set any size that your screen can fit (or even maximize it), position on the desktop and specify whether it should stay above icons, below icons or normal.

Being above icons means that you can interact with any link in your Facebook account, and being below signifies that interaction is not allowed. Although FaceTop brings many benefits to Facebook enthusiasts, the click-response is not very quick and links do not open as fast as in the web-based version.

You can select the default page to be displayed (Home, Notifications or Profile), refresh rate (2, 5, 15, 30 or 60 minutes or never) and toggle the titlebar, window shadow, scrollbars and adjust the transparency.

To sum up, the FaceTop app offers a great solution to users who want to be constantly updated with their Facebook account as easily as possible. It stays unobtrusively on your desktop and can ignore your mouse clicks, if configured.
