Keeping the Facebook website always open in your web browser can lead to clutter and makes it easier to distract you. MenuTab Pro for Facebook is a simple status bar menu application that allows you to access the service without having to integrate it in your browser.

The MenuTab Pro for Facebook panel becomes active through a simple mouse click and in the main window you must input your Facebook credentials. Once logged in you will be able to view your news feed, your wall, the friends requests and much more.

MenuTab Pro for Facebook's users who are running on Mac OS X 10.8 also receive popup notifications. If you are using another operating system you can enable this feature through an in-app purchase.

Other available customization options include the window opacity adjustment (for checking your account in stealth mode), receiving color coded alerts or being able to browse your account in desktop mode. The latter also offers you the possibility to chat with your friends.

The mobile view (the status bar panel) is great if you want to quickly check your Facebook news feed or if you want to post status updates in no time but, for the full experience, the desktop mode might prove more comfortable.

The MenuTab Pro for Facebook status bar panel can be resized but the app is keeping the mobile format: from the tab button you can toggle the Facebook manager panel that provides access to your favorites apps and more.

MenuTab Pro for Facebook can prove useful if you need to monitor and even manage your account’s activity (the refresh rate can be adjusted in the Preferences) but you need to have the desktop mode unlocked to gain access to all services provided by the Facebook website.
