Packet analyzer tool that offers you the option to capture and analyze your network traffic or simply open and review the content of PCAP files #Packet analyzer #Network traffic #Analyze traffic #Packet #Analyzer #Network
Dripcap is a packet analyzer tool developed to help you capture your network traffic or open PCAP files just as easily. However, at the moment Dripcap does not allow you to save the captured information.
The Dripcap user interface resumes to a single window where you get to visualize the traffic and get extensive details about each entry. The app comes with multiple interface themes, and you get to quickly switch between them via the Preferences: Default, Mocha Dark, Ocean Light, or Atelier Estuary Light.
You get to adjust the snapshot length, to install additional package analysis tools, or decide which of the pre-installed packages should be active.
When you want to establish a new capture session, Dripcap automatically detects all the available input sources and allows you to select the one you want to monitor from a drop-down menu.
Dripcap lets you input the filter for the capture manually, and can also run in promiscuous mode. For your convenience, Dripcap also includes a Display Filter that can help you eliminate the irrelevant frames (make sure to go online to learn more about the proper syntax).
Of course, sorting the frames from the start by applying a capturing filter will eliminate the unnecessary use of your resources altogether. Keep in mind that Dripcap is able to work with the Berkeley Packet Filter (BPF) syntax.
Bottom line, Dripcap can be used to capture details about the packages on your network and provides a well-organized space where you can review and filter the information.
At the same time, even though Dripcap cannot save the data to a file, it is able to open PCAP documents, so you can use the app to analyze information captured by third party services.
