Digital currencies have become a popular medium for online transactions, with different units becoming available every day. Donut is a small OS X utility that can help you keep track of their value in real-time.

Upon launch, Donut places a small menulet in the status bar which means that you can get access to the list of currencies with a simple mouse click. For each currency, Donut provides the name and icon, the associated abbreviation, the monetary volume.

Donut also offers details about the value of a currency unit expressed in various currencies, and lets you know if the rate has been going down or up, and by how much (the app determines the increase or decrease percentage).

Note that Donut updates the currencies value in real time and that you need to select via the bottom area of the app's main panel the reference currency you want to use (Donut will perform the conversion instantly).

In the top area of the Donut’s main panel, you also get to see a simple search tool that can be used to filter the currency list. Note that you get to sort the entries both by name and abbreviation.

As soon as you start typing keywords in the Donut search box, the app will begin applying the filtering rules and immediately display the results. This means that you don’t have to type the entire currency name and you can also find other solutions that use a similar identifier.

To sum up, Donut offers you the possibility to keep track of the current value of more than 700 different digital currencies without disrupting your workflow.

Donut updates the currencies values in real time, you get to filter the entries by name or abbreviation, but you don't get the option to place the information on your clipboard to be used in other apps.
