ConnectMeNow is a minimalist application designed to streamline the connection procedure to different servers and is using protocols that are also supported by the operating system.

Nevertheless, it provides a more straightforward approach to the matter, so you won’t have to deal with any more repetitive actions.

Once you launch the  app, you will be able to see a new icon in your status bar and use the associated menu to access the app’s preferences window. Here you can easily configure the server connections by utilizing one of the supported protocols: SMB, AFP, CIFS, FTP, SSH, WebDAV or NFS.

Just provide the server name or IP, together with the appropriate credentials and ConnectMeNow will include the entry in the status bar menu and help you connect with a simple mouse click. Note that you can use custom names for your servers to make them more easily recognizable.

However, ConnectMeNow only handles the connection part: to interact with the server content, you still need to go through the Finder. As a result, it would be great if the app were able to launch a Finder window when a connection is established.

ConnectMeNow comes with a few customization options that can further improve your experience: it can launch on its own at startup, it can mount volumes quietly, it can check for network presence before attempting to mount a server, send error messages, or delay the reconnection after the first try fails.

Moreover, ConnectMeNow can force the servers to un-mount if you quit the application or shut down your computer. Last but not least, you can send Wake-on-Lan signals before mounting: just provide the MAC address and the connection port.
