Quickly search for files, notes, events and tasks in multiple cloud-based accounts using a simple hotkey, with this easy-to-use app #Search cloud #App launcher #Search storage #Search #Cloud #Find
Nowadays, many of us juggle so many cloud-based services that managing all of them and finding the files we need quickly is becoming more and more difficult.
Cloudo is a nifty OS X app that seeks to offer a solution to this issue. It allows you to search for items in all your connected accounts, launch web apps, browse your cloud storage and perform various other operations from your desktop, using a simple hotkey.
Once you have created a Cloudo account, the next order of business is to add all the services you wish to manage. Among the supported ones, we can mention Dropbox, Google Drive, Github, Evernote, Gmail, Bitbucket and Todoist.
While this process can be launched from the app’s input window, we find it is much easier to add multiple services from the web panel. In any case, this operation only needs to be performed once, and then you are good to go.
You can use the preset keyboard shortcut to open Cloudo, and then either search for items across all your accounts, bring up a list of available commands or use the ones you are already familiar with to perform a certain action.
You can, for example, view your most recent items, create new tasks in Asana and Todoist or new documents in Google Docs, launch certain web apps, browse Dropbox and Google Drive folders or view a list of all events scheduled for the current day.
In essence, Cloudo is very similar to the OS X Spotlight function, with the exception that it searches for content on cloud-based services and not your Mac.
It is very easy-to-use, fast and unobtrusive. However, one drawback is the fact that you cannot change the default shortcut, which some users may have wished to do.
Also, it would be nice if the same functionalities OS X El Capitan added to the Spotlight function could be introduced to Cloudo, namely the ability to move and resize the search window.
Overall, Cloudo is a well-designed tool that makes it possible to search for content in multiple cloud-based apps right from your desktop, browse online storage and perform a range of other common actions.
