Select the right browser to open when clicking any link in other applications, using a simple context menu with support for profiles #Select Browser #Choose Browser #Browser Picker #Browser #Select #Link
Browser selectors can be very helpful for managing multiple installed browsers. If certain links need to be opened in anything other than your default browser, it helps to have a quick way to do so, instead of just copying the URL, opening said browser, and then pasting it there.
With a name as suggestive as Browsers, this app is designed to give you a convenient way to choose which of your browsers should be used for opening links in various applications. It looks like a context menu, and it’s intended to be as lightweight as possible.
Any link opened from within a browser will be handled by the same app, but any URL clicked in a non-browser app, which would normally be sent to your default browser, will now go through this application.
In order to do that, the utility needs to be set as your default browser. When opening a link, you will get a prompt to choose the preferred browser from a context-menu-like pop-up.
Lately, we’ve seen quite a few of these apps around, each with their own quirks. Some offer advanced customization, shortcuts, and various other features. Browsers comes with none of those. You get a simple menu for selecting your preferred app, and little else.
However, it’s worth noting that you are able to select specific profiles when opening browsers that support them, such as Chrome and Firefox, and you can also activate Incognito mode by holding down ⇧ while the menu is open.
This app is still in early development, so it’s possible that additional features will be added later on. Even at this stage, however, Browsers can be very helpful, and it’s a good pick for users who want a simple utility that still does the job. And since it’s free and open-source, you can try it out at no cost.
