BitTorrent Live For Mac

The BitTorrent Live application aims to provide support for live online broadcasting without dealing with lag or provisioning issues. The project delivers multichannel linear television to your Mac in a user-friendly package.

Right off the bat, BitTorrent Live lets you now that you need to activate the app using the automatically generated code that you will be able to see in its main window. To deal with the task you have to navigate to the btaccounts.com/activate address in any web browser.

Note that the link displayed in the BitTorrent Live panel is not clickable and the activation code cannot be selected. Hence, you must manually type both.

To use the code, you must register for a BitTorrent Live account (free of charge), and then navigate to the appropriate area within the web console. You can activate multiple codes while logged to the same account, but BitTorrent Live does not keep a list of active devices.

Within the BitTorrent Live main window, you get to navigate through the video panel, upcoming videos, and the TV channels list by simply hovering your mouse in the bottom area of the main window.

The drawback is that you don’t have a very firm control over the panels, which can lead to some very annoying situations. At the moment, within the BitTorrent Live channel pane, you get to choose between NASA TV and France24, but the project is still under development.

At the same time, BitTorrent Live does not feature any customization options: within the settings panel you can only see your account details. The app does not allow you to pause or stop and resume the playback, but you do get to mute the sound.

BitTorrent Live is a project that aims to deliver live broadcasting for linear television channels without experiencing any latency or provisioning issues.

The list of channels supported by BitTorrent Live should cover a wide range of subjects, going from news and sports to technology or music, but at the moment only 2 channels seem to be working.
