Apple Events is an unofficial application designed to help live bloggers or other people that want to watch the latest Apple event while working. The app displays the starting time for the next scheduled event and provides a play button as soon as the stream becomes available.
Right off the bat, within the Apple Events main window, you get to see the name, date, and time for the next Apple event. Note that you will be able to start the playback only after Apple starts the live streaming.
The same area includes a list of past events that you can watch directly by pressing the associated Play button. Apple Events includes details about the name, date, and location for each of the covered events, so you know precisely what you are about to watch.
When you switch to the player panel, you will notice that everything is quite straightforward: the control bars are visible only when you move the mouse, and you can use the “Close” button placed in the top right corner to get back to the navigator panel.
The control bar placed in the bottom area of the screen enables you to play or pause the playback, fast forward or rewind the video, adjust the volume, monitor the progress or jump directly to a particular portion.
You get to specify if you want to see subtitles and select the language, or stream the playback to another device via AirPlay (the Apple Events application will look for available devices, and you get to choose the one you want to use).
Apple Events comes with a picture in picture mode that can be activated by pressing the green button in the window’s traffic light controller.
This way, the player’s window will be minimized and sent to the bottom right corner of the screen. Note that you can both resize and move the window to another location on the screen.
To conclude, the Apple Events application is an unofficial alternative to viewing the live stream of the most recent Apple event without having to clutter your Safari web browser.
Apple Events displays the starting time for the upcoming event and allows you to play the live stream when available, but also grants access to some of the past events.
