4D is a platform on which you can develop databases and comes with multiple components.

Besides the design environment, the software package includes a 4D Server, the 4D Volume Desktop app, the predefined 4D Pop and 4D SVG area component databases, and various plug-ins (4D for OCI, 4D InternetCommands, 4D ODBC Pro, 4D Pack, 4D View, and 4D Write).

Note that to be able to activate the 4D application and access its interface; you need to register for an account free of charge and then provide a license code. You can sign up for a 4D trial license on the developer’s website, and you will receive the code by email (the process might take a considerable amount of time).

To streamline the configuration procedure, 4D comes with a Welcome Wizard that takes you through all the required steps. The same panel helps you connect to a 4D server, open a local app, or create a new app.
