iDiagrams For Mac

iDiagrams is an uncomplicated application that can help you create simple ER diagrams using all sorts of shapes and curved connecting lines.

The Entry-Relationship model is a straightforward data model, which is generally used to describe an abstract and conceptual representation of data. For instance, relational databases store data in tables and some of the data stored in one table is connected to data stored in another table. Thanks to iDiagrams you can use multiple shapes in order to design these entities and display their relationship.

iDiagrams comes with a clean and uncluttered interface from which you have access to a Tools panel and your layout. To start making your flow diagram you just have to drag and drop shapes from the Tools panel into your layout. Once a shape is placed, you can resize it, change its color along with its position within your diagram.

You can type in multi-line text boxes by simply pressing ctrl + return and use the four connection dots to link multiple diagrams with the connecting lines. Unfortunately, the color and thickness of the connecting lines cannot be changed and your shapes cannot be filled with a color or pattern.

On top of that, the text color cannot be changed and the copy and paste functions cannot be used to duplicate existing shapes. You cannot open an IDG file by simply double clicking on it, you have launch iDiagrams and use the file menu to open your work.

The zooming feature seems to distort your diagram and you will be forced to reopen the application in order to have an accurate view. IDiagrams does not provide any kind of help or instructions on how you should use the app.
