When taking photos in low-light conditions, it is sometimes difficult to avoid unwanted image noise, especially if you are using a less advanced device that does let you control the ISO level.

However, these photos can still be salvaged with the help of applications like Super Denoising. It is easy-to-use and comes with some useful presets, although you can also modify certain settings yourself.

To begin with, you can load an image file by simply dragging in onto the main application window. There are a number of presets you can choose from, each suited for photos taken in certain conditions. The noise level is also important, as applying a filter that is stronger than necessary can have a negative effect on the picture’s quality.

The app allows you to modify luminance, chrominance and smoothness, as well as choose whether or not the sharpening and USM filters should be applied.

A batch mode is also available, making it possible to process multiple photos at once, although you cannot perform individual adjustments to the filter applied to each image.

Once you have imported a picture, the application generates a preview depending on the preset you have selected. The original and edited images are displayed side-by-side, enabling you to analyze the corrections. However, it would help if the app also included a comparison slider.

Moreover, the preview is generated again after each modification, and the process is not particularly fast, so fine-tuning the settings could take a bit of time.

You can choose from three zoom levels or have Super Denoising fit the photo into the app window, but it is not possible to resize the image manually.

This is not a complex application by any means, but it does the job it was designed for just fine. A few enhancements would go a long way, however, especially when it comes to image navigation and preview generation.
