MagicaVoxel Viewer is an easy-to-use rendering application for voxels that supports depth of field, anti-aliasing, soft shadows and indirect lighting, along with various popular file formats, such as OBJ and 3DS, as well as Minecraft schematic models.

In order to import a model, you just need to drop the file onto the main application interface. MagicaVoxel Viewer supports the following formats: OBJ, 3DS, VOX, XRAW and Minecraft schematic models. OBJ and 3DS files are voxelized into 512^3 cubes automatically when they are loaded.

You then have a number of controls at your disposal for customizing lighting, shadows, depth of field, field of view and camera angle.

There is a broad range of parameters that can be fine-tuned, and they have an effect on image quality and the overall appearance of the imported model. MagicaVoxel Viewer accumulates samples frame-by-frame, so the quality of the rendering improves the longer you wait.

You can define the image size, the number of samples per pixel, the distance of indirect lighting, depth of field blurriness and shadow softness. These settings can have a noticeable resource impact, so make sure your GPU can handle the load.

Several other visual parameters can be customized, such as the sun angle, field of view, sunlight and skylight color. Moreover, you can select between multiple camera modes: perspective, freestyle, orthogonal and isometric.

When you find that the rendering is acceptable, you can take a screenshot, which is automatically saved in the app’s ‘export’ directory as a PNG image file.

MagicaVoxel Viewer is a streamlined voxel renderer that offers a respectable array of features and is intuitive enough to be used by those who have relatively little experience with 3D modeling or rendering applications.
