Lona Photo Viewer For Mac

Lona Photo Viewer is a handy macOS application that aims to provide a more user-friendly alternative to Apple’s default photo viewer, Preview. It provides a simple window to browse images, basic zoom and rotate functions, an enhanced slideshow viewer and support for numerous image formats.

The user interface consists of the main photo area, a pane to navigate folders containing images, a toolbar to choose the layout type, zoom, rotate, property or slideshow buttons, as well as a pane to browse photos by thumbnails. Also, the lower bar enables you to choose the zoom level of thumbnails and view the number of images in the folder.

In addition to this, Lona Photo Viewer comes with a search box for finding photos in the selected folder by name. EXIF information viewing is, too, supported. However, the function that probably stands out the most is the slideshow starter.

Just like any slideshow, it auto-rotates images in a folder in full-screen mode. Aside from this, Lona Photo Viewer can also display effects when switching images and play music at the same time. As an added bonus, the app can display photos from subfolders, too.

As far as the support for image formats goes, Lona Photo Viewer does a good job. Besides common formats, such as JPEG, PNG, GIF or BMP, the app can also read formats such as EPS, EPI, EPFS, PICL, ICNS, DNGL, PNT, NEFL, PSDL, XBM and more.

In a nutshell, Lona Photo Viewer is not a revolutionary image viewing app, but does provide a simpler replacement for Preview. It works fast, combines only basic features and even spices up slideshows with visual effects and music.
