iMage Tools is a free and basic image editor for the Mac OS X platform that enables you to make various common modifications to your pictures. The application comes with tools for resizing, renaming, adding watermarks, strokes, curves and shadows.
iMage Tools makes it really simple to import hundreds of images, which can be done in several ways. You can either drag and drop them onto the main window, use the Plus button from the upper bar or via the File > Add Image option.
After adding images, they will all be displayed on a canvas as thumbnails. You can also zoom in / out the canvas to get a better look at the images. The editing tools are available from the right pane that includes all the available processing modules.
Before starting to edit image, you should know that iMage Tools can process all your images at once and provides a preview of the changes in a different window, called Preview. The preview can be easily toggled by using Space, then the left and right arrows to browse through images.
First of all, you can resize images in percentages, change their fixed width, height, or fit them into a predefined rectangle. Also, you can rename pictures using the following tags: name, number, date created and date modified plus your own description.
Another thing you can do is to add graphic or text watermarks to all images at once. Several settings are available: changing the scale, opacity, position and X / Y offset.
In addition to this, you can add strokes of different styles, colors and sizes, insert reflections below the image (with custom length, opacity and offset), add curves with custom radius, as well as user-defined shadows to the borders.
All things considered, iMage Tools is a great tool for basic image processing. However, it does not provide a preview in realtime of the changes you’ve made. To do so, you have to open them in a Preview screen that does not allow you to compare edited pictures side by side with the originals.
