GIPHY Capture For Mac

GIPHY Capture (formerly known as GifGrabber) is a well-designed and very easy-to-use application specially designed to help you capture parts of any video clips played on you Mac’s screen in order to create animated GIFs.

The app comes with a simple and user-friendly interface that enables you to define the size of the area you want to record for you GIF image. With just a mouse click you can drag the corner of the capture window and resize it to the desired width and height.

The current width and height value of the captured size is constantly displayed in the bottom right corner of the main window fact that allows you to make the necessary size adjustments. You can start or stop the recording process by clicking on the “Start/Stop Capture” button or by using the pre-defined keyboard shortcut (cmd + shift + S).

You can position the main window anywhere on your Mac’s screen and perfectly align it with your video. On top of that, you can quickly minimize GifGrabber in your Dock, when you do not use the app or require more free desktop space.

All generated GIFs are automatically displayed in the status bar menu, from where you can easily access the animated GIF you want to view. The GIF Viewer window helps you set the GIF size, check the width and height along with the file size.

Moreover, you can trim your GIF by setting a new start and end frame. You can also preview the file before applying the changes and saving it on your Mac’s hard disk.

When you are happy with your creation, you can easily publish your animated GIF on Gifsicle.com, GIPHY Capture's sharing website, in order to share your image with friends, family and co-workers.

It is also worth mentioning that GIPHY Capture is not able to capture your Mac’s Dock or menu bar and, as a result, you cannot make animated GIFs using Dock icons or status bar menus.

In spite of this drawback, the app provides you with a comprehensive and simple way to create animated GIFs using any video source you like as long as you can play it on your Mac.
