Mandelbrot For Mac

Mandelbrot is a native Mac OS X application that enables you to generate fractal images from a simple user interface using the classic Mandelbrot set space. You are allowed to add variations to the image through different colors based on your custom configuration.

First of all, you can select which and how many colors to be used (up to 1024 are supported) and then choose 2 points in the Mandelbrot Set space. The application will subsequently generate the image as fast as your processor power allows. Lastly, you can save and enjoy the image.

Note that this Mandelbrot generator actually allows for only 2 custom selected colors (black and white) and just 4 color selections. However, the generated image displays a wide assortment of greyscale colors that can be viewed in the built-in histogram.

Mandelbrot features a plain-looking WYSIWYG user interface the includes the fractal image in the middle, coordinates at the top, control buttons on the right and color selectors and histogram at the bottom of the window.

Working with Mandelbrot is not that complicated. You must choose different colors using the color picker and optionally zoom in images if you want to inspect the fractal image in more detail. Each pixel has a different color that is based on the number of its iterations.

In summary, the Mandelbrot application might not be the most complete solution to Mandelbrot manipulation, but it offers basic functions, delivers a smooth workflow and is fairly easy to work with.
