Colorize For Mac

Applying gray filters to your photos can lead to very artistic results, but the overall effect is even more dramatic if you are keeping the color of the key objects in your image. Colorize is a simple Mac app that allows you to do just that.

The Colorize user interface is represented by a single window where you get to preview the source image after the gray filter is applied. The top toolbar provides buttons for the other app functionalities: save, undo / redo and zoom in / zoom out.

Colorize also comes with two types of brushes: color and gray. The first one is used to unravel the original color of an image area after the filter is applied, while the other reverts the process in case you changed your mind.

Note that Colorize does not come with auto selection tools: you have to use the brush to make the adjustments manually. However, you do get to adjust the brush size via a slider bar placed in the top toolbar.

At the same time, it is important to understand that Colorize will not add a new color to your images: the color brush simply cancels the effect of the initial gray filter.

Colorize offers you the possibility to quickly generate a grayscale version for any of your photos. The application also gives you the possibility to neutralize the filter for certain areas (delimited manually with a brush tool) in order to create a more dramatic effect.

As far as automation goes, Colorize does not have much to offer, but the application can get the job done: as usual, your own imagination is the limit.
