Designers use color schemes to create graphic assets which follow the same aesthetic rules of the object that will include them.
Colol is a free and easy to use application designed to help you make and manage color sets that can be utilized in any way or manner you need.
To add colors to your custom color collection, you have to click on the "+" button on the lower right side of Colol's main screen. In the addition dialog, you can enter the code for the color you want to add or click on the color blob next to the color code input field to summon macOS' inbuilt color picker tool.
Luckily, even though Colol does not have its own color sampler, you can use the one provided by the macOS color picking app to quickly select the color of any pixel on your Mac's screen and add it to your color set.
Colol comes with some built-in color collections which should help you get started faster if you have to create a color palette inspired by Google's Material visual language, by Microsoft's Metro, or if you just need to grasp how a social or flat color scheme might look like.
However, even though Colol will let you know that the color code is added to your clipboard when you double click a specific color in the built-in collections, I found no way to add any of them to my custom set.
This happened because the system copy/paste keyboard shortcuts do not work and the contextual menu was also a dead end. If there is another way to use the copied color code, it eluded me throughout the whole testing period.
Colol might benefit from an integrated color palette generator which could help you create a color scheme faster, either by using the colors you've already chosen as a starting point or with the help of an image.
All things considered, Colol is a useful tool to have around on your Mac if you need a simple utility for storing a color scheme to help you throughout the day while working on your latest graphic design project.
