Clorox File Repair For Mac

Clorox File Repair (cfr) is a utility that recreates the missing resource fork for common Macintosh graphics files. The resource fork stores the File Type, File Creator, and any bitmapped preview for the file.

The most common reason for a Mac file to lose its resource fork is storage or transfer to and from a Windows or UNIX environment. This soft ware will also correct some file naming errors, such as missing or incorrect extensions.

Simply take any combination of folders and files and drag them onto the Clorox File Repair (cfr) icon. The application will launch and a progress window will appear.

The lower progress bar gives the progress of each individual file as it is processed. The lower progress bar also has some descriptions of what is going on below it, but they will not stay long enough to read in most cases. All files repaired by cfr will have a note left behind in the Finder comments for the file (Get Info at the Finder).

Any files that cfr does not recognize or can't repair will have their Finder label left changed to red. This could indicate a detection error (if it is a file type cfr is supposed to understand).

NOTE: The opening help screen for Photoshop must be disabled or Clorox File Repair will hang.
