Purple For Mac

Purple is a basic HTML5 animation creator for the Mac OS X platform that enables you to make movies using a timeline and a decent set of tools. It offers a streamlined workflow: just add your assets (images and clips), adjust the interactions and preview them in realtime.

The most important function in Purple is the Timeline Editor, which allows you to work with your assets second by second. You are empowered to add transition effects and scenes between assets, as well as to easily jump to scenes due to the basic interaction with the user interface.

Purple can work with different output formats at the same time, as it comes with integrated data model and representation. Moreover, you can configure the keyframe properties of each asset via a left pane: position, size, angle, opacity and easing.

The same pane allows you to change the layer, export, action and video properties. In addition to this, it also hosts a tab where you can browse image folders from your local disk. You can view them as a list, icons or snippets and even adjust the icon size and search for images by name.

The third tab from the right pane enables you to browse all images you have added and inspect their properties. Each image can be saved after being edited, exported as a compressed file or replaced with another picture from your local drive.

Purple has potential to provide a good environment for creating HTML5 animations on your Mac. However, it comes with a few features and the interface seems a bit unresponsive and hard to work with at times. Purple might help you create movies quickly, but does not seem to surpass other similar tools with the same price.
