Galaxy Forces V2 is an old school 2D space game in which you have to control a ship and defeat your opponents in dogfights in order to get as many points as you can, or race against the clock on several space race tracks to get the fastest time.

Besides the self-explanatory “dogfight” and “race” modes, Galaxy Forces V2 also bundles a “mission” mode, in which you have to transport cargo from one place to another, and a “mission_coop” mode in which you can play with your friends and cooperate for transporting cargo.

Galaxy Forces V2 can be played both in single and in multiplayer mode with a maximum of 8 players, and comes with 50 built-in levels and a map editor that enables you to easily create your own missions.

To play Galaxy Forces V2, you must first start the game, login as a member, use the 127.0.0.1 IP address to connect to your own server, and either join ongoing games on the network or create a new one.

The rules of the game are as straightforward as they come: collect as much points as you can or get the fastest time, don’t hit anything, and don’t get shot by others because your ship is fragile and will be instantly destroyed.

The only areas that you can touch without your spaceship getting obliterated, are the black zones and the grey landing zones on which you can land, but only with careful and slow movements.

The ship’s movements are smooth, the graphics are basic, and the soundscape is as you would expect from a game of this sort, very retro-like.

Getting to grips with the controls should be an easy task, as you control the ship’s movements with the help of your keyboard’s W, A, S, D keys, and you fire by pressing Space.

Taking all things into consideration, playing Galaxy Forces V2  can be a pleasant and entertaining experience if you want a space battle game that can be played either in single player or with others.
