Preview the design of every font installed on your computer using custom text strings with the help of this unsophisticated macOS app. #Font viewer #Font previewer #Preview font design #Font #Viewer #Previewer
FontScape automatically detects all fonts installed on your Mac and offers you the possibility to preview their design using a custom statement.
In contrast to other solutions of this kind, FontScape does not limit the testing text string to the font name or to standard phrases.
The FontScape user interface is represented by a single window where you get to preview the fonts designs and also configure the testing parameters. Via a drop-down menu, you get to choose if you want to preview all fonts or only a particular typeface.
Worth mentioning is that within the FontScape preview window you can see either all the fonts or only a single entry. This means that you do not have the option to compare two font designs that are not placed next to each other on the list.
By default, FontScape displays the name of all font styles in the preview area, but you can easily type or paste any text content, and it will be added to the entry.
To perform the change, you must press the Update button placed in the bottom right corner of the FontScape application.
You can also configure FontScape to automatically update the preview text in real time, but making the changes could take a while, especially when dealing with an extensive fonts collection.
Other customization options include the possibility to adjust the font size, the background or text color, to opt for bold or italic formatting, or to underline the text string.
To sum up, FontScape automatically detects all font styles installed on your computer and provides a user-friendly solution to test the designs by adjusting various parameters, including the text statement used for the preview.
Since you get instant access to all the characters that might interest you, FontScape can potentially improve your workflow. On the other hand, the fact that you cannot compare multiple font styles with the same ease is a notable drawback.
