Straightforward budget tracking app that gives you a quick overview of your transaction history and helps you notice long-term trends. #Budget Tracker #Budget Manager #Finance Manager #Finance #Budget #Income
Bank statements can be hard to get through, and they don’t exactly make it clear how your budget evolves over time. You can easily miss negative trends or fail to appreciate positive ones, not to mention pinpoint expenses that may need to be cut down on.
Rebudget is a relatively simple app that makes your financial history easier to track and manage. It shies away from overly complex features often encountered in other budgeting apps, instead opting to give you a better idea of how each transaction affects your finances.
You’ll need to begin with setting your starting balance and date. Then, just add daily transactions and start tracking changes to your budget. Every transaction is clearly listed in the main window, in green if it represents income, and in red if it’s an expense.
Clicking on a transaction will highlight all other entries with the same name, and you can uncheck any of them to temporarily remove them from the budget calculation.
The date and description are also displayed, along with a bar chart that helps you visualize your current balance compared to the all-time lowest and highest values. If your budget is negative, it will appear in red. When saving money, the bar chart will appear to grow as you scroll down.
To add a new entry, just use Cmd+N. You can add its name and value (positive or negative) and specify if it should be repeated monthly or at a user-defined interval.
However, it would be nice if there was an easier way to add a transaction that has been recorded in the past, without scheduling it. At the very least, having the app auto-complete the entry’s name based on past transactions would help.
While it doesn’t offer any advanced features, statistics, or visualization options, Rebudget is great for those who just want a simple budget tracking app that doesn’t have a steep learning curve. You can start adding data and managing your finances in minutes thanks to its straightforward design, but the limited feature set might put off some users.
