Quiff For Mac

Some banks still provide the online banking statements in the old QIF format which can be a problem if you need to open the data in your Intuit Quickbooks app. Quiff is a small Mac OS X utility designed to convert your QIF documents into more accessible IIF files.

Working with Quiff is fairly intuitive because most of the app’s capabilities are available through its main window. To get started, simply press the “Import QIF” button from the top right corner and direct the app to the QIF file you want to process.

The main area of the window will display the content of the QIF document: the data is organized into columns which makes it easily readable. However, keep in mind that the information cannot be processed in any way.

On the bottom area of the Quiff main window you must specify the Destination Bank Account (Format Account Sub-Account) and then press the “Export IIF” button placed in the bottom right corner of the main window.

This way, the information provided by your bank can be easily imported to various transactions management applications, such as Intuit Quickbooks. Note that the QIF file format has many shortcomings and that the conversion might be altered by the quality of the QIF document.

Quiff delivers a simple solution to a rather popular problem: the info about the account activity included in the QIF file cannot be directly imported to a money management app. As a result, the possibility to convert the data to the Intuit Interchange Format (IIF) will prove to be extremely useful.

Since Quiff also allows you to preview the document content, you will be able to check if the conversion has been performed correctly.
