iGarten For Mac

Finding the right plants for your home or garden is not an easy task, considering how many species are available. iGarten is a Mac OS X application designed to help you decide by exploring a wide range of possibilities.

The iGarten main window is separated in three main areas: on the left you can view the search panel and all available sorting criteria, in the center you can browse the entire plant collection (each entry comes with a small thumbnail), while the panel situated on the right side displays extensive details about the current selection.

Via the top toolbar, you can enter the Slideshow or the Practice modes, decide to view the plant names in English or the Botanical equivalents, or toggle between the Plant Details, Flowering Calendar and the image Gallery.

iGarten offers you the possibilities to find plants that match specific criteria regarding size, flower color, second lower color, foliation, light requirements, suitable sites, soil moisture, soil pH, usage, flowering period, fruit ornaments, native range and more.

In the iGarten Plant Details panel you can view the English and the Botanical name for each entry, the plant family, group, native range, habitus, height, bloom period, leaf shape and edge, foliation, light requirements, usage, toxicity and more. You can also browse a collection of images depicting the plant.

The iGarten collection includes details about 800 different plants and comes with an image gallery of more than 3200 pictures. This way, you can also use iGarten to identify plants that are unknown to you.

iGarten is providing quick access to a fairly large plants database together with the most important details about each item. Since the app also comes with detailed illustrations, it will prove useful whenever you want to find a plant suitable for your own garden.
