SkySafari For Mac

SkySafari is a full-featured astronomy application for the macOS platform that provides all the necessary tools to learn about various celestial objects. Using its OpenGL astronomy engine, the application unravels the dark corners of Universe on your Mac.

This is the basic version of SkySafari in its 3-piece suite of astronomy applications. The information bundled in this version refers to 46.000 different stars, as well as 220 nebulae, galaxies and star clusters.

SkySafari also enables you to inspect our Solar System, including major planets, satellites, comets and asteroids, thanks to its real graphic representations from NASA’s spacecraft.

Besides detailed imagery, SkySafari brings tons of scientific pieces of information, edited by professional astronomers, about stars, planets and the rest of the Universe. You can view the sky from any place on Earth at any time. It can even show you how the sky looked liked from a hill in Paris a million years ago.

Also included in the SkySafari package are hundreds of awe-inspiring images taken by popular astro-photographers, Hubble Space Telescope and during missions of NASA astronauts.

Another important feature is Time Flow that uses VCR controls to animate the night sky. The idea is that the application compresses entire years and shows you, in just a few seconds, the transformation of stars and planets during this time.
