MarginNote For Mac

MarginNote brings a new approach to reading books and making highlights, notes or annotations. The utility keeps track of every entry and enables you to organize the data into mind maps or flashcards in order to make it easier to review.

MarginNote works with PDF and ePub documents, and you get to import them from your local drive, or from your Dropbox account. Once added to your library, the books can be opened in reader mode, and you can select the content or area you want to highlight or annotate.

For each selection, MarginNote opens the editing menu where you get to select a color, and choose the action you want to perform: create note, annotation, assign tags, search on Wikipedia, send to the mind map panel, and so on.

All notes are numbered, and you will be able to see the entries in hierarchical order on the right side of the MarginNote main window.

The MarginNote Outline and Mind Map views can be very useful when you want to go over the most important points of a book without having to go through all the content. Moreover, in the mind map panel you get to make connections between various ideas.

Last but not least, MarginNote automatically generates flashcards based on your highlighted content, which you can use while studying various concepts. Worth mentioning is that you can only add your notes to the original text, and not modify it in any way.

However, MarginNote also comes with an embedded web browser that allows you to add content to your notes panel with simple drag and drop movements. The study material can be easily printer, or exported to file formats compatible with Anki, Evernote, OmniOutlines, MindManager, or iThoughts.

MarginNote allows you to connect to your Dropbox or Evernote accounts, which means that you will have access to all your notes, mind maps, and outlines even if you are on the go. Since MarginNote comes with iPad and iPhone companion apps, you can use the cloud to sync the data between devices.
