biblio For Mac

Citations are essential for any serious intellectual work, but generating them can be a real pain. There are several citation systems in use for books and websites, and you can waste a lot of time getting the formatting right.

Nowadays, of course, you can rely on web-based and desktop software to generate these citations for you. biblio is one of the latter, and it stands out through its sheer simplicity and ease of use.

After launching the app, go ahead and select the citation style you wish to use, and specify if you are referencing a book or website. biblio currently supports APA, Chicago and MLA.

Next, move to the first field and start filing out the info. You can just press Tab after you’re done with one of them to quickly move to the next. When you’re finished, click the generated citation text to copy it to the clipboard.

As mentioned, the app supports multiple citation styles, and you can see the exact template that is used by clicking the Template text at the top of the window; however, you cannot edit it.

The UI is minimalistic, some would say too minimalistic. It is very intuitive though, so we can’t criticize it too much, but it would have been great if it offered support for Dark Mode, as the default interface theme is very bright.

While not the most groundbreaking app we’ve ever seen, biblio is a great tool for authors who need a quicker way to create bibliography citations. Anyone can learn to use it in just a few seconds, as all you need to do is fill out some fields and click the generated text. It can save you a lot of time and effort in the long run, but a darker interface theme is badly needed.
