Addition For Mac

Addition is an interactive and well-executed educational game for Mac OS X designed to help kids practice simple addition exercises. The application features a 3-minute test mode, a friendly dog that accompanies kids throughout tests, 4 difficulty levels and several options.

When starting the Addition app for the first time, the user interface will be displayed on the entire screen. In the first step, a name must be entered. The difficulty can be selected from the upper left corner and the preferences can be adjusted by clicking the “i” icon.

After clicking the “GO” button, the test mode will begin. In a test, children must solve simple equations by clicking on the correct answer (1 out of 3). The test lasts 3 minutes and a graded line at the top will help kids visually solve the equations. The dog will be moving to the correct spot before or after equations are solved.

The movement of the dog can be configured from the Preferences window. You can choose when the dog should jump: after a few seconds, after any choice is clicked or after the correct choice is clicked. By default, the first option is selected. Also, the app supports the option to include negative numbers, as well.

At the end of a test, you can view the results, i.e the number of correct and wrong answers. What’s more, the application even keeps a record of your highest scores and displays them in the test interface.

In a nutshell, the Addition app offers an effective method to practice the lowest level of addition. It comes with quick multiple-choice quizzes that provide a visual representation of the equation. If you want your child to like math, this app might be a good start.
