NOTE: TotalTerminal will work in OS X 10.11 El Capitan only if you partially disable System Integrity Protection using the "csrutil enable --without debug" command after booting into Recovery OS.

Thanks to TotalTerminal you’ll be able to interact directly with the UNIX side of the Mac OS X operating system via a Visor window that slides down at the press of a keyboard shortcut. Consequently, you’ll be able to instantly summon the Visor window and type in commands from the command-line prompt.

On top of that, TotalTerminal offers you additional customization options that concern the start-up parameters, window grouping, appearance, settings, encoding and other essential features. TotalTerminal also helps you assign hot-keys for the activation and pin function.

If you have multiple displays connected to your Mac, you’ll be happy to know that TotalTerminal allows you to choose the screen on which the Visor window should appear. You can change the position of the window and enable the slide and fade animation with just a few clicks of a mouse button.

More demanding users have the option to adjust the opacity of the background and animate it using Quart Compositions.

TotalTerminal offers you the option to paste lines in the Terminal window using the contextual menu. You can even switch between tabs pressing the “cmd” key along with the corresponding number.

TotalTerminal is also capable to automatically copy your selection and display a status bar icon from where you can access its menu and summon the Visor or Preferences window. The Preferences window enables you to change the text color and background, use different character sets and customizable shells.
