Count lines of code in your source files and determine the complexity and scope of a project or find areas that require optimization. #Lines of Code #Count Code #Code Lines #Code #Count #Lines
Counting lines of code has many potential uses, such as estimating a project’s complexity, determining how long it will take to develop, and identifying areas that need to be optimized.
Xloc is a very simple app that lets you analyze source files or folders with drag and drop. It’s possibly the most straightforward way to get the job done, providing useful information in just a few seconds.
There’s simple and then there’s Xloc. To get started, just open the app and drop a file or folder in the main window. The analysis should be quick, depending, of course, on the size of the project.
Once completed, you’ll see the results split based on programming language, with the total number of lines at the bottom. Every popular language seems to be supported, so you shouldn’t have any issues unless you’re using something really obscure.
The only other feature available allows you to exclude trivial lines of code from the count, such as those that only consist of comments and whitespace. You can find it in the View menu, and it needs to be re-enabled every time you launch the app.
Other than that, what you see is what you get. Xloc was designed to be basic, with no unnecessary features to inflate the app’s size or price. It comes in a tiny package, runs on native code, and takes up almost no disk space.
Speaking of price, the app is normally available for a quite reasonable one-time purchase, but it can be downloaded for free for the time being. Either way, it’s worth getting if you need a simple way to analyze your projects and determine how many lines of code they contain.
