Sooey proposes a streamlined solution for localizing your Xcode projects with ease, regardless of the project’s target platform (iOS or macOS). The app performs the translation in the cloud, making use of the Google Translate capabilities.

Within the Sooey main window, you can load the .strings file you want to transcribe with simple drag and drop actions. Note that you cannot load more than one file at a time, and does not work with multiple windows open.

The Sooey main window is separated in two main areas: on the left, you get to see the content of the original file, while on the right side you can review the translation. Sooey will automatically detect the language used in the source file, but you can change it if the selection is not correct.

As far as the translation language is concerned, you get to choose between more than 90 different languages via a drop-down menu. Since Sooey works on a system of character quota, each task has to be confirmed by the user, and you get to see how many characters will be left.

Once you review the .strings file localization, you can press the “Save” button, and Sooey will replace the original text with the translation in the source file.

Consequently, if you load the .strings file directly from the Xcode project, you will be able to produce a localized build without having to perform any other management task. However, Sooey relies on Google Translate, so make sure to review the translations beforehand.
