ScreenToLayers For Mac

ScreenToLayers is a screen grabbing utility that can produce layered PSD image files that can be further edited by using third party processors. The app provides support for timed screenshots, and can list all the windows present on your screen.

Upon installation, ScreenToLayers will place a menulet in your status bar that includes the options to grab a screenshot immediately or with a 5 seconds delay. Keep in mind that ScreenToLayers will always capture your entire screen.

ScreenToLayers also associates default keyboard shortcuts to each of the two functions, but the hotkey does not work system wide: you still need to go to the status bar menu.

The same menu offers you the possibility to open the output directory or to launch the Preferences panel. Note that ScreenToLayers includes a Windows List panel where you get to view extensive details about each window present on your screen.

In the ScreenToLayers Windows List panel, you get to see the list of desktop elements and choose to include offscreen windows. You get to see the name of the source app, the origin, the window size, the window ID and level.

Moreover, ScreenToLayers offers you the option to ignore the framing effects, to create an opaque image, to only include shadows, or to fit the picture tightly. When dealing with single windows, you can choose which panels are to be included.

ScreenToLayers offers you the possibility to refresh the windows list or to quickly export the current selection to a PNG image file.
