Rodeo is a Python IDE wrapped as a standalone application that aims to provide a user friendly environment for data science analysis and running Python scripts. The app comes with a clean user interface and can connect to any of your Python installations.

To be able to use Rodeo, you need to have IPython or Jupiter installed on your system beforehand. To streamline the deployment process, you could use the Anaconda installer package that, besides the Python distribution, also includes a large collection of science and math related Python libraries.

The next step is to use the “conda” command in the Terminal to install the matplotlib package. Make sure to check out the online Rodeo documentation to see detailed instructions on how to install everything you need for Rodeo to work properly (the app will perform a check for each element on every launch).

Within the Rodeo environment, you get to view various types of data: series, dataframes, lists, arrays, and so on. Once you input the data in the Rodeo editor, the objects will be added to the environment tab. You get to run commands in the Console, and Rodeo will store all of them in the History panel.

Note that, besides the Python scripts, Rodeo can also be used to make Markdown documents. In fact, the app can also render images, code, plots, or the Latex with Mathjox markup. All this data can be easily exported to PDF documents.

Rodeo packs numerous functions aimed to improve your overall user experience, but also to raise your productivity. The app comes with autocomplete capabilities both for the editor and for the console, helps you navigate large documents with ease, and enables you to create and manage plots.
