ZEIT’s now service provides support for quickly sending any website, service, or app built with JavaScript or Docker to the cloud either to build the project or to share the resources.

The Now desktop application offers you the possibility to use the service from the comfort of the status bar, without having to rely on the command line.

On the other hand, the utility also offers to deploy the command line tool on your system, in case you need to use some of the more advanced functions.

Right off the bat, the desktop client prompts you to provide a working email address in order to create an account free of charge. After you confirm the registration by clicking on the link sent by email, Now will automatically log into the account the next time you launch the app.

You can check the currently connected account via the Now status bar menu, and even logout. However, at this point, you can use the Share or Deploy options in the menu to quickly upload your projects to the cloud.

The Now Deploy or Sharing tools rely on Finder menus to allow the user to select the folder that is to be deployed or merely uploaded to the cloud. For you convenience, Now integrates with the Notification Center, so you will receive alerts whenever there is a status update.

At the same time, the uploaded projects are automatically added to the list of deployments, and you can either open the project in your default browser or copy the direct link to the clipboard.

The Now Deployments menu also provides details about the upload date and time and offers you the option to remove the entry from the cloud.

By default, the ZEIT’s now service is designed to be used via the command line, which is great when dealing with more complex functions.

The Now desktop app represents a more time efficient and accessible alternative for using the service: once you connect to your account, you get to deploy, share, and get the direct links to the projects via the status bar.
