Help Crafter aims to give OS X developers an efficient alternative for authoring help content for their new applications.

The utility integrates a basic word editor, helps you deal with the metadata, and can export the projects to Apple Help bundles, or HTML and PDF documents.

Within a Help Crafter project, you can readily switch between multiple localizations to insert or edit data, and the content will be embedded in the same bundle.

Help Crafter allows you to set the default localizations you want to use for your projects, but you can easily insert additional ones at any time.

The adjustments can me made directly in the project window, or you can open the HelpBook Settings panel for additional customization options. You also get to modify the bundle identifier or the help icon or decide if you want to include headers and footers.

Note that Help Crafter comes with a collection of predefined variables, although you have the option to add new ones in no time. The variables can also be inserted into the help book content.

Within the Help Crafter main window, you get to establish the structure of your help book by creating new pages or subpages, yet most of the space is reserved for the editing area.

Help Crafter comes with basic text processing capabilities: you get to change the font style or the alignment, both for the entire page and for the current paragraph. You can also insert hyperlinks, create lists or tables.

Keep in mind that font formatting options are included in the Styles Editor, which means that you can make sure the same look is preserved throughout the entire document. At the same time, making changes for the entire help book is a lot easier.
