Using your clipboard to transfer text content between different applications or locations in the same document is extremely handy. Flycut is a small status bar menu application that pushes things further by allowing you to access not only the last clipping, but up to 99 different entries.

Working with Flycut is extremely intuitive and user-friendly: the app automatically records your pasteboard activity and places each separate clipping as an independent entry in the status bar menu.

You can put any of those text strings back on your clipboard at any time, simply by selecting the appropriate entry in the menu. At the same time, you can use the Shift + Command + V hotkey (it can be modified via the Preferences window) to summon the Flycut bezel window (its appearance can also be customized from the Preferences) and browse the database by using the arrow keys.

Note that, by default, the bezel window will remain on your screen only as long as you keep the keyboard shortcut pressed. You can change this from the Preferences window by checking the Sticky bezel box.

Other customization options include the possibility to automatically paste the text on selection or to disable the recording of password fields. What’s more, you can change the saving frequency (never, on exit or after each clip) and specify how many clippings should Flycut keep (it can go from 10 to 99 entries).

The app offers support for Dropbox synchronization: this way, both your settings and your clippings can be used on multiple computers. The application has been created to meet the needs of software developers, but it can also be successfully employed by regular users.

All things considered, Flycut is a great companion for your day-to-day activity and can improve your workflow by reducing the time you spend reclipping text portions.
