DexProtector For Mac

DexProtector is a Java application designed to help you protect the code of your Android applications. The app includes DEX code decompilers that will make source code alterations a lot more difficult.

Since it has been developed on the Java platform, DexProtector requires you to have Java installed on your Mac beforehand. To access its capabilities, simply launch the DexProtector-GUI.app.

DexProtector comes with a very organized interface: on top you can specify both the source and output APK files, but also the Android SDK location. Moreover, you must select the sign mode: Debug or Release (requires setting up a keystore/key alias and passwords for both).

DexProtector offers you the possibility to encrypt strings, classes and resources and is using a modified AES algorithm for that. In each case you can choose to use annotations or filters. The app allows you to create your own filters.

An experimental feature enables you to try and hide access by hiding the API calls. You can save the current configuration and then simply press the “Run” button to launch the protection process. To monitor the entire procedure make sure the “Print verbose output to console” box is checked.

DexProtector not only encrypts the data, but also injects code that will make the protected APK project unusable if modified: it will just not work.
