DevToys For Mac

The Windows version of DevToys has become very popular since it was launched a few months ago, and it didn't take long for a macOS port to spring up. While this is an independent project, and there are some differences between the two, it offers most of the same features.

DevToys for Mac provides developers with a set of tools that make day-to-day tasks a bit easier. It helps you avoid web-based utilities and single-purpose apps by integrating everything in a single, native desktop app that's always there when you need it.

It's worth noting that, at present, the macOS and Windows versions of DevToys share no code and are managed by different developers. However, the two teams are planning to work together on future releases.

The main differences between the two are as follows: the macOS version requires an Internet connection for some tools, whereas the Windows one works offline, their features are not identical, and the UI has a slightly different layout.

The app's design is quite straightforward, with the dashboard listing all the available tools. These are all opened in the same window, and you can also access them from the sidebar. What's more, a search feature allows you to find what you need more easily.

The Windows version of DevToys comes with a Smart Detection feature that highlights appropriate tools for clipboard content. This is not available on macOS. Conversely, the Mac version includes some online features that aren't included on Windows.

While there is still some work to be done to bring DevToys for Mac in line with the Windows version, the project is off to a good start. The app is written in Swift, so it's fast and lightweight, and additional functionality should be easy to implement in the future.
