When developing new graphic content, you need to take into consideration how the images will look on different screens. Density is a minimalist OS X app that can help you determine the dimension of various elements depending on the screen’s pixel density.

The Density app user interface is represented by a single window that contains three data columns: density type, width, and height. At the same time, the screen pixel densities are listed as rows: LDPI, BASE/MDPI, TVDPI, HDPI, REtina/XHDPI, XXHDPI, or XXXHDPI.

To start working with the Density application, just input the width and height values for one of the included standard screen models, and the utility will quickly display the values for all other screen types.

Note that Density calculates the values almost instantly and that you can input the initial parameters for any of the supported screen types. Naturally, the pixel density associated with a particular screen model determines the final results.

Density comes with very few customization options: you cannot resize the window or change its appearance in any way. The utility does not even allow you to change the interface color theme or to set up a system-wide keyboard combination for activating the main panel.

However, you do have the option to place the Density panel on top of all other windows, and to export the screen sizes to a text document. Density can produce only RTF documents, and the output file includes the height and width values for all screen types.
