Cuttle For Mac

Clojure is a programming language based on Lisp and developers can use the Leiningen tool to automatically build Clojure projects and manage their dependencies.

Cuttle is a simple OS X application designed to provide easy access to the Clojure compiling tools via a user-friendly graphical user interface.

The Cuttle project provides a binary version for the OS X application, but you can also install it using the Homebrew package distribution system.

Moreover, you get to use Homebrew to install the Leiningen automation tool on your Mac: manually performing the task might prove both challenging and time consuming.

To create a development environment, you should also have Node.js installed, but the project comes with an easy to deploy installer package.

Note that Cuttle makes use of the standard Clojure tools and employs Leiningen capabilities. The difference is that you can access these functionalities via a clean and well-organized workspace.

Right off the bat, in the Cuttle main window, you get to add new projects either by opening the Leiningen project.clj file included in the Clojure project folder, or by creating a new project from scratch in a location of your choice.

In the first case, Cuttle scans the directory for builds and provides details about the source folder and output file. Cuttle allows you to decide which builds you want to compile, and then automatically performs the tasks.

In the app’s main window you get to see the build status, and the last time when it has been compiled. Working with the Cuttle app is both intuitive and time efficient.

Keep in mind though that, to be able to perform the tasks, Cuttle must be able to load the resources: if the utility encounters issues and simply tries to load the builds for a long time, there is nothing you can do about it.
