CodeBox For Mac

CodeBox is a Mac OS X application for developers and designers which enables them to manage code snippets within an easy-to-use GUI.

With CodeBox, you can create a highly accessible library where you can collect and reuse all sorts of code snippets.

CodeBox provides a menu bar item to quickly search for code snippets. The status bar menu also helps you copy / paste snippets into any application.

To make it more accessible, you can activate the menu bar item via a customizable global hotkey.

You can organize code snippets into folders, subfolders, groups, smart groups and assets (including platforms or programming language). CodeBox adds support for over 100 syntaxes, such as C, C++, Objective-C, CSS, HTML, JavaScript, Ruby and more.

Another great way to organize snippets are tags. Each code snippet can contain tags, making them readily accessible just by clicking on a tag. Moreover, before using placeholders, you can define their variables.

The main window is divided into a pane for browsing the snippet library, another pane that lists the code snippets from a selected folder / group, and a third pane to view the code snippet.

The snippet library can be populated with data from the system clipboard, Finder or other snippet managers. One single snippet can keep multiple pieces of the same receipt (“script.js”, “style.css”, etc.).

Te code snippet database can be synced with other Macs using Dropbox, so you can always access your code snippets on different Macs. What’s more, you can also back up your library to mountable volumes or FTP.

A bonus feature is the ability to drag and drop TextMate .tmTheme files into the snippet pane in order to install it.
