Code Story is a code documentation editor intended to help developers deliver a comprehensive depiction of the various mechanisms included in their projects.
The Code Story utility brings together note taking and code monitoring tools to make everything as simple as possible.
When you start a new Code Story documentation file, you should save it in the project’s root folder, or you can opt for another location as long as you are sure you won’t change its relative position.
At the same time, Code Story might display error messages if the code roots folders include too many files. In this case, you need to navigate to the project’s settings panel and exclude the directories you don’t need.
Code Story allows you to toggle between the editing effortlessly and locked mode for the currently opened documentation project and offers you the possibility to navigate the data via the table of contents panel that keeps everything organized into notes and sections.
Within the Code Story document, you get to add text, step marks, headings and images, as well and shell windows and live code widgets. To include live code, the procedure is quite simple: the app generates a token, and you must include it in the source code file.
Code Story comes with support for multiple syntax standards and allows you to make small adjustments while relying on the built-in code editor.
At the same time, you get to send the code to a third party editor of your choice (Code Story comes with pre-defined configurations for Atom, TextMate, Sublime, Visual Studio Code, and PyCharm).
Code Story allows you to assign related notes to any of the included elements, so you can easily navigate back and forth to the document’s sections relevant to the current mechanism.
Code Story offers you the possibility to keep track of the source code that deals with a certain task and document how everything works even though the code is spread across multiple files.
The Code Story editor includes note taking tools and allows you to organize the data into sections, while also providing support for working on the code and switching to more comprehensive source code editors if necessary.
