Decompressor is an unarchiving solution designed to help you batch extract files that have been compressed using the Zip, RAR, Gzip, TAR, 7-zip, or other formats.

However, the developers do not provide an exhaustive list of supported formats, so you must experiment on your own.

Right off the bat, to use the Decompressor application, you must navigate to the file menu and, by using the Finder, select the archive you want to decompress.

This is the best course if you want to see if a format is supported or not, because Decompressor will make selectable only the files that sport a compatible format.

Nonetheless, you can also drag and drop the archive you want to process on top of the Decompressor Dock icon: the app will start the procedure immediately, and you will be able to see the output folder in the Finder when the task is complete.

Decompressor is able to work with multiple files at the same time, and you get to monitor the unarchiving process in the app’s main window. Note that the Activity Window will close on its own when the last task is completed.

Via the Decompressor Preferences window you can switch between the dark and light themes for the Activity window, set the default output folder and decide if the app should create a new folder when extracting archives.

You can choose which actions you want to have performed automatically when the extracting completes: open the extracted folder, move the archive to the trash, and display notification.
